Removing And Installing Or Replacing Fuel Level Sender For Fuel Gauge

Special tools required:
- 16 1 020

Remove fuel from tank.
Remove back seat.
Remove fuel level sensor (left) complete unit.





Fold carpet forward (1).
Remove bolts (2) and access panel (3).
Tightening torque 6 Nm.






Release fuel hose connection.






Release locking ring using special tool 16 1 020
Tightening torque 35 Nm.

Install hint: Replace rubber seal, insert seal into tank.






Release pipes (1) and harness connector (2) from left hand sensor unit.
Carefully remove unit from tank, catch any dripping fuel in a suitable container.






Disconnect pipe attachment from sensor unit. Remove unit and pipes from tank.






Install hint: When installing the fuel level sensor unit ensure lug (1) locates in the recess (2) on the tank.


Remove/Refit Fuel Level Sender Unit (Assembly removed)

Remove fuel lever sender unit.




Release harness from clip (1) and clip (2).





Disconnect sender unit from post by releasing clip and remove downwards.





Remove earth lead (1) and release harness from pipe clips (2).

Install hint: Ensure harness is routed correctly and will not impair float arm action.

Removing And Installing Or Replacing Fuel Pump

(Complete Unit Removed)





Remove electrical connectors (1) via retaining lugs (2).
Release fuel gauge from retaining lugs (3) and remove fuel gauge.
