Air Bag Control Module: Service and Repair
Removing And Installing Airbag Control Unit
WARNING!
Note safety regulations for handling airbag modules and pyrotechnical seat belt tensioners,
Refer to Safety instructions for working on cars with airbag systems.
Incorrect handling can activate airbags and cause injury.
Remove both front seats.
Remove rear seat cushion.
Remove the left hand interior door sill finisher.
Remove front centre console.
Remove rear centre console mounting bracket.
Remove Torx screw (1) securing seat belt slider bar to body.
Release rear end of slider bar (2) from body and position aside.
Tightening torque 40 Nm.
Remove nuts (1) securing front centre console mounting bracket (2) to body, feed cigar lighter/power socket connector (3) through bracket and remove.
Tightening torque 2.6 Nm.
Install Hint:
Ensure harness is not trapped beneath mounting bracket.
Release carpet from rear seat cushion body brackets (1).
Feed seat harness connectors through carpet (2).
Fold back carpet (over handbrake) to gain sufficient access to airbag control unit connector and fixings.
Release control module connector lock and disconnect connector (1).
Remove nuts (2) and remove control module (3).
Tightening torque 8.8 Nm.
Install hint:
When installing control module ensure earth lead (4) is positioned onto body mounting (as shown).
CAUTION!
Prior to installing control module, ensure the mounting faces are clean so that the module will be mounted to the body correctly.
Ensure control module is mounted with the arrow on the module label facing forward (as shown).
