SITUATION
The following service information covers the release notes for DIS V50. This information can always be accessed directly from the DIS/GT1 Diagnosis Start screen.
CAUSE
DIS software errors
INFORMATION
Always use the latest DIS version when performing diagnosis on vehicles.
New Features
^ Car Access System (CAS R56)
^ New service function: "Reset internal ELV fault counter"
^ The service function must be carried out following replacement of the electric steering lock (ELV).
^ Path in the Function selection: Service functions / Body / Locking and security functions / Electric steering lock / Reset internal ELV fault counter
Miscellaneous
^ Energy diagnostics (R56)
^ For the "Off-load current problems" fault code memory entries in the DME, a histogram of off-load current data is displayed in the energy diagnostics. This diagram shows the time in minutes with excessive off-load current. Availability depends on the DME fitted.
^ The results display of the energy diagnostics shows relevant information on possible causes of fault for a discharged battery at the odometer reading concerned. The event that occurred last is listed first.
^ Antenna diagnostics (R56):
^ Expansion to test routine, the existing EMC measures in the antenna system are listed and some can be checked.
^ Revised "Slot" test module: The comparison images for the remote control slot (radio remote control key) have been improved.
^ Revised "Outside temperature" test module: With immediate effect, the display value from the instrument cluster is no longer displayed in the test module because the displayed value is only updated to the real value after a delay. To check the outside temperature sensor, the sensor value must be compared with a self-measured temperature value.
Fault Symptom selection
^ Fault symptoms for the following systems have been newly created, or existing fault symptoms expanded, to handle problems without a fault code memory entry:
^ Park Distance Control PDC (R56)
^ Car Communication Computer CCC (R56)
^ Boost Radio (R56)
^ IHKR and IHKA heating and air-conditioning systems (R56)
Fault symptom "0000 Latest fault symptoms from online update" will in future list important fault symptoms that can be received through JETstream updates. These fault symptoms are integrated into the conventional fault symptom selection with the release of DIS-DVD 51.0.
Modifications in diagnostics based on feedback concerning the BMW diagnostic system (extract)
^ Error when identifying the DME rectified (R56).
^ Faulty routine in the "DSC sensor calibration" service function rectified (R56).
For a complete listing of modifications based on feedback refer to SI M07 02 07.
Test modules with measurement technology
Test modules that are contained in the test plan but cannot be started (grayed out) require the use of measurement technology. This behavior can occur with the GT1 if the Measurements Interface Box (MIB) is not connected. The test module concerned can be started following connection of the MIB. The behavior described cannot occur with DISPlus because DISPlus is already integrated with measurement technology.
Use of OPS or OPPS
Due to the introduction of the D-CAN, the optical programming system (OPS) or optical testing and programming system (OPPS) must be used in conjunction with the associated cable (green marking and "CAN included" label) for diagnostics on the following series:
^ R56
