Front Door Window Glass: Adjustments

51 32 154 Adjusting Left Or Right Front Door Window

Special tools required:
- 51 3 010
- 51 3 080
- 51 3 240

Note:
- Make sure door is correctly adjusted to fit before starting adjustment.
- If necessary, adjust door.







Preload
Ideal adjustment:
Raise door window to end position.
Close front door until door lock is held in first door catch (1).
In this position the top edge of door window (2) must touch door seal (3) when it is subjected to load with light finger pressure.







Release preload adjusting screws (1).
Adjust position of window glass with adjustment mechanism (2) for preload.

Check adjustment, see Preload - Ideal adjustment.
Repeat procedure until ideal adjustment is reached, then tighten down adjusting screw (1) for preload.

Position of window glass
Ideal adjustment:
Open door, attach special tool 51 3 080 to door window glass and close door.
Measure penetration depth at positions (1 to 3).

Measurements for R50/R53:
1 = 5 mm
2 = 5 mm
3 = 3.5 mm

Measurements for R52 (Convertible):
1 = 6 ± 1 mm
2 = 6 ± 1 mm
3 = 4.5 ± 1.5 mm







Adjusting door window glass
Remove outer cover strip.
Slacken shims (1) of door window glass with special tool 51 3 240, do not release fully.







Apply masking tape with special tool 51 3 080 to points 1, 2 and 3 (measuring points for penetration depth).
Fully raise door window to end position.
Attach special tool 51 3 010 and adjust door window in correct position.
Tighten down shims on door window glass with special tool 51 3 240.

1AZ Shim, door window, power window lugs 10 Nm
Note: The specified tightening torques only apply when the special tool is used.
