Windshield Wipers

Front Wash/Wipe System

Function
Windshield Wipers
- Push the wiper switch to the first position to switch on intermittent wipe.
- Push the wiper switch to the second position to switch on normal continuous wipe.
- Push the wiper switch to the third position to switch on rapid continuous wipe.
- Push the wiper switch down to the first position to start a single wipe.

Speed-Dependent Wiper Operation
When the car is at standstill and the windshield wiper switch is operated, the wiper runs at the selected speed.

After the car has exceeded the 8 km/h limit and then gone below this, the wiper is reduced by one speed stage, for example from rapid to slow or from slow to intermittent. The wiper returns to the selected speed when the 8 km/h limit is exceeded once again.

Jamming Protection
When the wiper is set to continuous operation (rapid or slow) and the wiper return contact was not closed for 18 seconds, the corresponding relay is deactivated. The wiper motor cannot be restarted until the ignition switch is set to position 0 and then to position 1 or the windshield wiper switch is moved to another position by the driver.

Programmed Wipe/Wash Function
The windshield wiper switch must be pulled towards the driver to trigger the programmed wipe/wash function, which activates the washer pump and starts three wiper cycles after 0.5 seconds.

Automatic Resetting Of The Wiper
When the ignition switch is moved from position 1, the wipers move automatically to their home position.

Note: The windshield wipers are locked when the engine hood is open!
