SUBJECT
Water Leak from the Front Doors

MODEL
R56 (Cooper and Cooper S) produced up to 7/2007

SITUATION
After heavy rain, the carpet may be wet in the area near the rear of the front doors or in the footwell area.

CAUSE
Water which is allowed to enter the vehicle at the top rear edge of the door is not able to drain out through the bottom of the door seal. As a result, the water travels along the door seal and into the passenger compartment.

CORRECTION





The door seal has been updated to include 2 additional drain holes (1).

PROCEDURE

1. Check the door and window adjustment to ensure that they are making proper contact with the door seal and adjust as necessary per repair instruction RA 415.... and/or RA 51 32 154.

2. Replace the door seal on the affected side with the updated part.

3. Water test the vehicle to ensure the leak does not reoccur.

NOTE:
High pressure washing should never be used to water test the vehicle.
