SUBJECT
Protective Disc on Tailgate Comes Loose
MODEL
R56 (Cooper and Cooper S) produced up to 02/2007.
SITUATION
The clear protective discs on the body which are contacted by the tailgate bump stops, may become loose and/or air bubbles may be seen in the film.
CAUSE
Poor adherence of the adhesive backing of the discs to the painted surface.
CORRECTION
The adhesive on the protective disc has been improved.
PROCEDURE
1. Peel off the existing protective discs.
2. Clean off any adhesive residue with a commercially available adhesive remover, such as Wurth Clean-Solve.
3. Adhere the new discs to the same location from which the previous labels were removed.
