23 11 310 Replacing shifting unit

Note:
After completion of work, check transmission fluid level.

Important!
Use only the approved transmission fluid.
Failure to comply with this requirement will result in serious damage to the manual transmission.


Installation:
After installing the shifting unit, it is necessary to teach in the position of the zero gear sensor again.
Adjustment is carried out with the "Service function" of the DIS Tester (learn/write zero gear sensor).

Necessary preliminary tasks:
^ Remove resonance body and intake duct (N 12 only)
^ Remove intake neck for intake filter housing (N 14 only)
^ Remove intake duct (W16 only)
^ Release coolant expansion tank and place to one side





Remove coolant hose from holder (1).





Release screws (1).

Tighten shift unit 27 Nm

Pull shifting unit up and out of transmission.

Note installation position.

Installation:
Clean thread pitches.

Replace microencapsulated screws.

Apply Loctite 5203 sealing compound.
