Noises from the Open Convertible Top

R57 (Cooper and Cooper S Convertible)

SITUATION

When driving over rough surfaces with the convertible top open, a rattling or grinding noise can be heard from the rear seat/convertible top area. If the convertible top is closed, the noise is no longer present.

CAUSE

Hard contact between areas of the convertible top that have some movement when in the open position, caused by tight tolerances or incorrect adjustments

CORRECTION

Adjust or isolate the part in contact.
