SITUATION
When the window regulator moves, a creaking or clicking noise can be heard. The noise always occurs at the same window position, and becomes increasingly louder.
PROCEDURE
Confirm the noise is coming from the front window regulator, and remove the regulator using Repair Instruction 51 33 000.
1. Locate the nylon guide clips (1) on the window regulator, and replace the clips using the following steps.
2. Turn the window regulator (1) over to expose the slider.
3. Pull the slider (1) outwards, and unclip the nylon guides (2) from the rail (3).
4. Use a protective rag (3), and lay the slider (1) on the rail (2).
5. Use a straight blade screwdriver (2), and pry out both clips (1).
6. Insert a new clip (2) into the top recess of the slider (1), and push down firmly until it snaps in securely. Use the same guide replacement procedure for the other end of the slider.
7. Clip the slider (1) back into the rail (2) by folding it upwards. Perform the same repair procedure for the opposite side.
8. After all four guide clips are installed, clean and lightly grease both window lift rails.
9. Check if the securing pin (1) in the aluminum track (2) is loose.
10. Use a center punch (2) to stake and secure the loose pin on both sides of the aluminum track.
11. The center punch indents (1) must be deep enough to secure the pin firmly. Perform the same repair procedure for the opposite side. Install the modified regulator and related parts in the reverse order of their removal. Quality check the repair for smooth and quiet window operation by cycling the window up and down several times.
