Fault In Window Mechanical Assembly
Known fault in power window mechanical assembly
The following defects and malfunctions can appear in the power window's mechanical assembly:
Window movement is slow and is accompanied by jerking motions
Possible fault causes: Window glass is seizing in window guide runners.
Remedy: Check window guide runners for damage and seizing. Focus special attention on checking the rear end of the window slot cover (cover strip).
Possible cause of fault: High frictional resistance in the slider on the power window rail.
Remedy: Grease the power window rail.
The window does not reach the end position.
Possible cause of fault: The glass window pane is adjusted incorrectly.
Remedy: Adjust the window according to the repair instructions.
Possible cause of fault: Corrosion on door plug.
Remedy: Check the door connector of the affected door for corrosion.
If the plug on the vehicle side exhibits corrosion replace the affected pins.
If the plug is corroded on the door side respond by replacing the door wiring harness.
Also apply a suitable grease to the area between the wires, the plug connectors and all pins on the multiple pin connector.
Side window glass is loose
Possible cause of fault: Side window glass is loose
Remedy: Retighten the attachments for the window glass and then readjust the window according to the repair instructions.
Possible cause of fault: Power window regulator is loose.
Remedy: Retighten mounting screws of window regulator.
NOTE: Retaining studs hold the power window regulator to a metal rail. The window regulator unit must be replaced if one of the upper mounting studs has too much play.
