Blower With Blower Ballast Resistor
Blower With Blower Ballast Resistor
Blower with blower ballast resistor IHS and IHKS
This functional description covers the blower and blower ballast resistor of the IHS and IHKS.
Brief description of components
Air-volume control wheel
The blower speed is set by turning the air-volume control wheel.
Blower operation
The blower creates the necessary air-mass flow. The blower is fitted after the fresh air recirculated-air flap in the heater/air conditioning system (pushing blower arrangement).
The blower speed is set by turning the air-volume control wheel. The blower ballast resistor enables a 4-stage adjustment of the blower. Depending on the setting, a number of resistor coils of the line resistor in are activated in line to reduce the voltage at the blower motor. There is no integrated dynamic-pressure compensation on the IHS/ IHKS. This means that the compensation must be made manually by adjusting the blower output.
The blower ballast resistor is not self-diagnosable.
