Assemble
Inner Shaft
1. Using pipe with outside diameter of 2.95 inch and metal thickness of .16 inch, press dust cover onto inner shaft.
2. Using tool MB990560 or equivalent, press bearing onto shaft.
Driveshaft
1. Using pipe with outside diameter of 2.71 inch and metal thickness of .09 inch, press dust cover onto BJ side.
2. Using pipe with outside diameter of 2.24 inch and metal thickness of .24 inch, press dust cover onto DOJ side.
3. Wrap vinyl tape around driveshaft splines to prevent damage to boots.
4. Using grease supplied with repair kit, lubricate driveshaft.
5. Install BJ boot, new boot bands, and DOJ boot on driveshaft and BJ in that order. BJ and DOJ boots are of different size and shape and must be installed correctly.
6. Install DOJ cage, small diameter side first, onto driveshaft, then install circlip on driveshaft.
7. Install DOJ inner race onto driveshaft and secure with snap ring.
8. Using grease supplied with repair kit, lubricate DOJ inner race and DOJ cage, then fit balls into cage.
9. Using grease supplied with repair kit, apply 1.8-2.8 oz. to DOJ outer race and install on driveshaft.
10. Apply an additional 1.8-2.5 oz. of above grease to DOJ outer race and install circlip.
11. Using grease supplied with repair kit, lubricate BJ side, then install BJ boot.
12. Ensure that distance of 3.1 inch exists between boot bands, then tighten them securely.
