Removal and Replacement
1. Loosen rear wheel lug nuts, then jack up rear of vehicle with jack placed under differential.
2. Remove rear wheels and support vehicle on axle stands placed forward of rear spring front bracket, with jack still applying slight upward pressure on axle assembly.
3. Remove brake drums, then the shoe and lining assemblies.
4. Disconnect parking brake cable.
5. Remove load sensing spring.
6. Drain brake fluid, then disconnect brake hose.
7. Make mating marks on propeller shaft flange yoke and differential case flange, then remove propeller shaft.
8. Remove U-bolts and shackle assemblies.
9. Lower axle assembly and draw it out from rear of vehicle.
10. Reverse procedure to install, then bleed rear brake system.
