Checking Fluid Level

1. Road test vehicle to bring transmission to normal operating temperature.
2. Park vehicle on level surface with engine at idle, then block wheels and apply parking brake.
3. Move selector lever throughout its full range, then return to neutral.
4. Pull dipstick from filler tube, clean it, then place it back in filler tube. Remove dipstick again and check fluid level. Fluid should be between the L and H marks on dipstick.
5. Add Mitsubishi Plus transmission fluid as necessary.

Changing Fluid

The automatic transmission fluid level should be changed every 30,000 miles on these units.
1. Remove front and side oil pan attaching bolts, then loosen the rear oil pan attaching bolts.
2. Carefully pry oil pan loose, and allow fluid to drain into a suitable container.
3. Remove oil pan and gasket, then thoroughly clean all related parts in a suitable solvent.
4. Install oil pan with new gasket, then insert oil pan attaching bolts and torque to 4.4 to 5.7 ft. lbs.
5. Add Mitsubishi Plus type transmission fluid as required to bring fluid level to full mark on dipstick, then move selector lever through its full range and return to neutral position.
6. Add fluid as required.
