Fuel Pump: Testing and Inspection

FUEL PUMP OPERATION CHECK



1. Use the scan tool to force-drive the fuel pump, and check the operation of the fuel pump.
2. If the fuel pump does not operate with the scan tool, check by the following procedure. If the results are normal, check the drive circuit and harness.




- Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
- When the fuel pump drive connector is connected directly to the battery, check that the sound of the fuel pump operation can be heard.

NOTE: It is hard to hear the sound of an in-tank type fuel pump. So remove the fuel tank filler tube cap to hear it from the tank filler neck.

3. Check if the fuel pressure can be felt by pinching the high pressure fuel hose with fingertips.
