Manifold Vacuum Inspection

Pre-Inspection Conditions
- Engine coolant temperature: 80-95°C (176-203°F)
- Lights and all accessories: OFF
- Transmission: Neutral (P for A/T)

- After turning the ignition switch to OFF, connect a tachometer to the ignition or a scan tool to the data link connector (white).

Engine Speed Detection Connector:

To attach a primary voltage detection-type tachometer:
- Insert a paper clip into the engine speed detection connector (blue), and then connect a tachometer to the paper clip.
- Connect a primary voltage detection-type tachometer to the paper clip.

Start the engine and check that the idle speed is within the standard value range.

Curb Idle Speed: 7OO ±1OO rpm

NOTE: The engine speed indicated on the tach is a third of actual speed. To get the actual engine rpm, multiply the tach reading by 3.

Vacuum Gauge Installation:

- Connect a three-way joint to the vacuum hose between the intake manifold plenum and the vacuum motor, and then connect a vacuum gauge.
- Take a reading of the vacuum gauge.

Limit: minimum 60 kPa (18 in.Hg)
