General Description
MANUAL TRANSMISSION/TRANSAXLEThe interlock or clutch switch contact is switched Off when the clutch pedal is depressed, when the ignition switch is turned to the Start position, electricity flows to the starter or inhibitor relay and the starter motor.
The contact of the starter is switched On and the starter motor is activated. If the ignition switch is turned to the Start position without depressing the clutch pedal, electricity flows to the starter or inhibitor relay (coil), the interlock switch (contacts) and to ground. This results in that the contacts of the starter relay are switched Off and the power to the starter motor is interrupted.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION/TRANSAXLE
When the ignition switch is turned to the Start position while the gear selector is in "P" or "N" position, the contact (magnetic switch) of the starter is switched On and the starter motor is activated.
