On four-wheel drive models and models operated under severe conditions, the transmission fluid should be changed every 30,000 miles. When refilling transmission, add only Dexron II or Diamond ATF SP automatic transmission fluid.
1. Remove drain plug and drain differential into a suitable container.
2. Install drain plug using a new gasket.
3. Refill automatic transmission fluid through oil level tube until it reaches "COLD" lower limit on dipstick.
4. Run engine at least two minutes, then shift transmission through all ranges and recheck fluid level.
5. Ensure fluid level is between the "HOT" upper and lower limits with transmission fluid at normal operating temperature. Add or remove fluid as necessary.
