Shift Linkage: Service and Repair

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

INSTALLATION SERVICE POINT
>A< DUST COVER INSTALLATION





Install the dust cover so that it faces as shown in the illustration.

>B< TRANSMISSION CONTROL CABLE ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION





1. Move the selector lever to "N" position.
2. Move the transmission side lever to "N".
3. Connect the transmission control cable to the selector lever.





4. Connect the upper lever to the transmission control cable.
5. Temporarily tighten the nut while pressing the transmission control upper lever lightly in the direction of the arrow.
6. Tighten the nut with the specified torque.
Tightening torque: 24 Nm (18 ft. lbs.)

>C< SHIFT LOCK CABLE (SELECTOR LEVER SIDE) INSTALLATION
1. Move the selector lever to "P" position.





2. Temporarily tighten the nut at a position where the end of the shift lock cable is above the red marking on the lock cam.
3. Tighten the nut with the specified torque.
Tightening torque: 12 Nm (106 ft. lbs.)
4. Check that the shift lock mechanism operates normally.

>D< KEY INTERLOCK CABLE (SELECTOR LEVER SIDE) INSTALLATION
1. Move the selector lever to "P" position.
2. Turn the ignition key to "LOCK" position.





3. Connect the key interlock cable end to the lock cam.
4. Install the key interlock cable temporarily.
5. Push the cable joint on the lock cam gently toward the arrow, and tighten the jam nut to the specified torque.
Tightening torque: 12 Nm (106 ft. lbs.)
6. Check that the key interlock mechanism operates normally.

INSPECTION





Move the connector in the direction of the arrow and remove it from the bracket.
