DTC 42

CIRCUIT OPERATION
The ABS-ECU power is supplied to the ABS-ECU (terminal 31, 33) from the fusible link 9.

ABS DTC SET CONDITION
These codes are output in the following cases:
- If there is an open or short circuit in the ABS-ECU power circuit (solenoid valve, motor).
- If there is a malfunction in hydraulic unit inner circuit.

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
The most likely causes for DTC is to set are:
- Damaged wiring harness and connector
- Malfunction of the hydraulic unit

DIAGNOSIS

STEP 1. Check the power supply circuit at the ABS-ECU connector A-86.
1. Disconnect connector A-86 and measure at the harness side.
2. Measure the voltage between the terminal 31, 33 and ground.
Voltage should be approximately 12 volts (battery positive voltage)
If not approximately 12 volts, go to Step 2.
If approximately 12 volts, go to Step 3.

STEP 2. Check harness connector A-86 for damage.
If the harness connector is damaged, repair or replace it.
Then confirm that a diagnostic trouble code is not output.
If the harness connector is in good condition, go to Step 4.

STEP 3. Check harness connector A-86 for damage.
If the harness connector is damaged, repair or replace it.
If the harness connector is in good condition, replace the hydraulic unit. Then confirm that a diagnostic trouble code is not output.

STEP 4. Check the harness wire between fusible link 9 and ABS-ECU connector A-86.
If any harness wires between fusible link 9 and ABS-ECU connector A-86 are damaged, repair them. Then confirm that a diagnostic trouble code is not output.
