Inspection Procedure 8

DIAGNOSIS

STEP 1. Check the gear backlash (excessive).
If faulty, adjust it. Then go to Step 3.
If normal, go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Check the oil level.





Check that gear oil level is not 8 mm (0.3 inch) below the bottom of filler plug hole.
If low, refill Hypoid gear oil API classification GIL-5 or higher SAE viscosity Number 90, 80W. Then go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check symptoms.
Check that no heat is generated.
