3. Cruise Does Not Cancel With Brake Application
Stoplight Switch Circuit:
Connectors: C-10, C-35, C-66, D-02, D-09:
CIRCUIT OPERATION
This is the stoplight switch input signal circuit. The signal is sent to the stoplight switch from fusible link 6 via dedicated fuse 8, and is then sent to the auto-cruise control-ECU.
TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION (COMMENT)
The cause is probably a malfunction of the stoplight switch circuit.
TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
The most likely causes for this code to be set are:
- Malfunction of the stoplight switch.
- Damaged connector and harness.
- Malfunction of the auto-cruise control-ECU.
DIAGNOSIS
STEP 1. Check the stoplight illuminated.
If the stoplight illuminates, go to Step 2.
If the stoplight does not illuminate, go to Step 3.
STEP 2. Check harness connector C-35 at the auto-cruise control-ECU.
If any harness connector is damaged, repair or replace it. Refer to vehicle level Testing and Inspection. Then check that the malfunction is eliminated.
If the harness connectors are in good condition, go to Step 4.
STEP 3. Check the stoplight switch.
1. Disconnect harness connector C-66 at the stoplight switch.
2. Connect an ohmmeter to the stoplight switch, and check continuity when the plunger of the stoplight switch is pushed in and when it is released.
3. The stoplight switch is in good condition if there is no continuity when the plunger is pushed in to a depth of within 4 mm (0.2 inch) from the outer case edge surface, and if there is continuity when it is released.
4. The check for continuity should be made at connector terminals 2 and 3 of the stoplight switch.
If there is no continuity, replace the stoplight switch. Then check that the malfunction is eliminated.
If the stoplight switch is in good condition, go to Step 5.
STEP 4. Check the harness wire between stoplight switch connector C-66 and auto-cruise control-ECU connector C-35.
If any harness wire between the stoplight switch connector and auto-cruise control-ECU connector is damaged, repair or replace it. Then check that the malfunction is eliminated.
If the harness wire is in good condition, replace the auto-cruise control-ECU. Then check that the malfunction is eliminated.
NOTE: After checking intermediate connector C-10, inspect the wire. If intermediate connector C-10 is damaged, repair or replace them. Refer to vehicle level Testing and Inspection.
STEP 5. Check the circuit at stoplight switch connector C-46.
1. Disconnect connector C-66 and measure at the harness side.
2. Measure the voltage between harness connector terminal 2 and ground.
- voltage should be system voltage.
If circuit check made at connector C-66 meets specifications, go to Step 6.
If circuit check made at connector C-66 does not meet specifications, go to Step 7.
STEP 6. Check harness connectors C-35 at the auto-cruise control-ECU and C-46 at the stoplight switch.
If any harness connector is damaged, repair or replace it. Refer to vehicle level Testing and Inspection. Then check that the malfunction is eliminated.
If the harness connector is in good condition, go to Step 9.
STEP 7. Check harness connectors C-66 the stoplight switch connector and D-02 at the junction block connector.
If any harness connector is damaged, repair or replace it. Refer to vehicle level Testing and Inspection. Then check that the malfunction is eliminated.
If the harness connectors are in good condition, go to Step 8.
STEP 8. Check the harness wire between stoplight switch connector C-66 and junction block connector D-02.
If any harness connector is damaged, repair or replace it. Refer to vehicle level Testing and Inspection. Then check that the malfunction is eliminated
NOTE: After checking dedicated fuse D-09, inspect the wire. If any intermediate connector is damaged, repair or replace it. Refer to vehicle level Testing and Inspection. Then check that the malfunction is eliminated.
STEP 9. Check the harness wire between auto-cruise control-ECU connector C-35 and stoplight switch connector C-66.
If any harness connector is damaged, repair or replace it. Refer to vehicle level Testing and Inspection. Then check that the malfunction is eliminated.
NOTE: After checking intermediate connector C-10, inspect the wire. If any intermediate connector is damaged, repair or replace them. Refer to vehicle level Testing and Inspection. Then check that the malfunction is eliminated.
