Temperature Sensor (Gauge): Testing and Inspection

ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE GAUGE UNIT CHECK
1. Drain the engine coolant. (Refer to On-vehicle Service.)
2. Remove the engine coolant temperature gauge unit.




3. Immerse the unit in 70°C (158°F) water to measure the resistance.
Standard value: 104 ± 13.5 ohm

4. If within the standard value, the sensor is OK. Re-install it, then check the engine coolant temperature gauge. If not within the standard value, replace it.




5. After checking, apply the 3M(TM) AAD Part No.8731 or equivalent around the thread of engine coolant temperature gauge unit.
6. Add engine coolant. (Refer to On-vehicle Service.)
