Inspection Procedure 14

DIAGNOSIS

NOTE: In the event of seizure, disassemble and replace the parts involved. Be sure to check all components for any irregularities and repair or replace as necessary.

STEP 1. Check the drive gear backlash (low).
If faulty, adjust it. Then go to Step 6.
If normal, go to Step 2

STEP 2. Check the drive pinion preload (excessive).
If faulty, adjust it. Then go to Step 6.
If normal, go to Step 3.

STEP 3. Check the side bearing preload (excessive).
If faulty, adjust it. Then go to Step 6.
If normal, go to Step 4.

STEP 4. Check the oil level.





Check that gear oil level is not 8 mm (0.3 inch) below the bottom of filler plug hole.
If low, refill Hypoid gear oil MITSUBISHI Genuine Gear Oil Part Number 8149630 EX or equivalent. Then go to Step 6.
If normal, go to Step 5.

STEP 5. Check that Hypoid gear oil MITSUBISHI Genuine Gear Oil Part Number 8149630 EX or equivalent is being used.
If not, replace the oil. Then go to Step 6.

STEP 6. Check symptoms.
Check that seizure is not occurring.
