DIAGNOSIS

Required Special Tool:
- MB991223: Harness set

STEP 1. Check the radio and CD player memory backup power supply circuit by backprobing.
1. Do not disconnect radio and CD player C-62.
2. Measure the voltage between terminal number 11 and ground by backprobing.

Q: Is the voltage approximately 12 volts (battery positive voltage)?

YES: Repair or replace the radio and CD player. Check that a memory is retained.

NO: Go to Step 2.

STEP 2. Check harness connector C-62 at the radio and CD player for damage.

Q: Is harness connector C-62 in good condition?

YES: Go to Step 3.

NO: Repair or replace it. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection. Check that a memory is retained.

STEP 3. Check the harness wires between radio, tape player, CD player connector C-62 and fusible link number 6.

NOTE: After inspecting junction block D-01 and D-06, IOD or storage connector A-54X, inspect the wire. If junction block D-01 and D-06, IOD or storage connector A-54X are damaged, repair or replace them. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection.

Q: Are the harness wires between the connector C-42 and fusible link number 6 in good condition?

YES: Go to Step 4.

NO: Repair or replace it. Refer to Harness Connector Inspection.

STEP 4. Recheck for malfunction.

Q: Is a malfunction eliminated?

YES: This diagnosis is complete. (If no malfunctions are not found in all steps, an intermittent malfunction is suspected. Refer to How to Use Troubleshooting/Inspection Service Point.)

NO: Go to step 1.
