Front Impact Sensor Cable
If there is a malfunction in the front wiring harness between the front impact sensor and body wiring harness, install and route a new sensor cable
DANGER: Welt at least 60 seconds after disconnecting the battery cable before doing any further work.
WARNING: Battery posts, terminals and related accessories contain lead and lead compounds. WASH HANDS AFTER HANDLING.
1. Disconnect the negative (-) battery cable and tape the terminal to prevent accidental connection and air bags deployment.
2. Make a cut in the grommet in the place shown in the illustration, and pass the sensor cable through the cut.
3. Run the sensor cable along the front wiring harness, and then secure the cable to the harness with insulation tape.
4. Apply the specified sealant to the grommet cut portion.
5. Exchange the terminal of the front wiring harness connector C-17 (Rear side) shown in the illustration with the terminal of the sensor cable shown in the illustration.
POST-INSTALLATION INSPECTION
1. Reconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
2. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position.
3. Does the "SRS" warning light illuminate for approximately 7 seconds, and then remain off for at least 5 seconds after turning "OFF?"
4. If yes, SRS system is functioning properly. If no, refer to "SRS Diagnosis" .
