Basic Timing

Ignition Timing Adjustment:

NOTE: When adjusting timing, turn all lamps and accessories "OFF," place transmission in neutral, and ensure coolant temperature is at least 170° - 190°F (80° - 90°C).

BASIC TIMING: 5° ± 2° BTDC

1. Connect tachometer and timing light. Run engine at idle.
2. Loosen mount nut and turn distributor as shown to adjust timing.
3. After adjustment, tighten nut and recheck timing.
