Transaxle Throttle Control Cable Check and Adjustment

Automatic Transaxle Equipped Vehicles

Note:
The engine MUST be at normal operating temperature 80 - 90 degrees C (180 - 190 degrees F.).

1. Raise rubber cover "B" (Figure 29), upwards to expose the cable stopper.

2. Measure the distance between the cable stopper and cover (Figure 27).
Distance:
3 mm +/- 0.5 mm
(0.120 +/- 0.020 in.)

Note:
A 3 mm allen wrench works as an excellent measuring device.

3. If the distance is incorrect:

a. Loosen lower cable bracket mounting bolt.

b. Adjust the distance between cable stopper and cover (Figure 30) to obtain the correct distance specification.

c. Tighten lower cable bracket mounting bolt to 12-14 N-m (9 - 10.5 ft.lbs.).

d. Open carburetor throttle to the wide open position. Pull the transaxle throttle control cable further up to confirm freedom of movement. If cable does not move further, readjust the transaxle throttle cable.
