Modulator Modification

New Installation Modification Procedure

1. Using a small flat bladed screwdriver, carefully pry open the modulator case at the electrical connector end and remove the circuit board. (Figure 2)

2. Using SHARP side cutters, carefully cut out resistor as indicated in figure 3.

3. Reinstall the circuit board into the modulator case, aligning the circuit board with the small grooves in the modulator case. (Figure 4)

4. Paint a small white dot next to the part number on the modulator case. (Figure 5)

5. Install modulator kit using procedures described in TSB-88-14-002.

Existing Installation Modification Procedure

1. Record the preset radio stations and then disconnect the battery ground cable from the battery.

2. Remove the glove box under cover by removing the plugs and then the mounting screws (Figure 6). Pull the cover outward and remove.

3. Locate the ECU. Following the intermediate wiring from the ECU, carefully lower the modulator from behind the blower motor area.

4. Disconnect the modulator from the intermediate wiring harness.

5. Using a small flat-bladed screwdriver, carefully pry open the modulator case at the electrical connector end and remove the circuit board. (Figure 7)

6. Using SHARP side cutters, carefully cut out resistor as indicated in figure 8.

7. Reinstall the circuit board into the modulator case, aligning the circuit board with the small grooves in the modulator case. (Figure 9)

8. Paint a small white dot adjacent to the part number on the modulator case. (Figure 10)

9. Reconnect the modulator to the intermediate wiring harness and place the modulator behind the fan motor.

10. Reinstall the glove box cover.

11. Reconnect the battery negative cable and reset the preset radio stations.
