Cruise Control: Service and Repair

ACTUATOR

Electrical Type

Refer to Fig. 41, when replacing speed control components. Number following procedure step, or item, indicates part in illustration.
1. Remove protector (1), then both accelerator cable adjusting nuts (2 and 3).
2. Remove actuator side inner cable (4), then the actuator connector (5).
3. Remove actuator (6), then the air hoses for the electronic control suspension (7).
4. Remove bracket (8).
5. Reverse procedure to install.

Refer to numbered sequence shown in Fig. 42 for component replacement.

SENSOR & SWITCHES
Electrical Type

Refer to Fig. 41, when replacing speed control components. Number following procedure step, or item, indicates part in illustration.
1. On models with automatic transmissions, remove accelerator switch (9).
2. On all models, remove stop light switch (10).
3. On models with manual transmissions, remove clutch switch (11).
4. On models with automatic transmissions, remove inhibitor switch (12).
5. On all models, remove vehicle speed sensor (13).
6. Remove cruise-control switch (14).
7. Reverse procedure to install.

Vacuum Type

Refer to numbered sequence shown in Fig. 42 for component replacement.

CONTROL UNIT

Electrical Type

Refer to Fig. 41, when replacing speed control components. Number following procedure step, or item, indicates part in illustration.
1. Remove lower cover of instrument panel (15).
2. Remove lap and foot air ducts (16).
3. Remove control unit mounting screws, then the control unit (17).
4. Replace cruise-control indicator light, if necessary (18).
5. Reverse procedure to install.
