Vehicle Speed Sensor: Description and Operation

Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) Location:

The vehicle speed sensor uses a reed type switch. The speed sensor, built into the speedometer, converts the speedometer gear revolution (vehicle speed) into pulse signals. These pulses are sent to the ECU to be used as a reference signal to be used in the control of the fuel injection and ignition.
