FRONT BRAKE JUDDER -

BULLETIN SUPPLEMENT

PURPOSE

This bulletin provides information to help avoid confusion when ordering parts to correct Eclipse brake judder.

Please refer to TSB-91-35-004 for rotor checking and resurfacing procedures.

DESCRIPTION

Before ordering replacement pad sets for the 1990 Eclipse, assure yourself of getting the correct parts by first removing a front wheel and inspecting the caliper.

Two different caliper designs were used on the 1990 Eclipse, as shown below. The earlier caliper, shown on the left, did not have a bridge between the two ends, and slots were machined in the caliper to accept ears on the pads. The later caliper, shown on the right, has a bridge that is visible when the rotor is in place, and this caliper accepts pads that are notched.

To review:
when you pull a front wheel, look to see if the caliper has a bridge. If no bridge, order pads with ears. If the caliper has a bridge, order pads with notches.

Pad sets are:
Earlier (with ears) ....... MB895168
Later (with notches) ....... MB895072
