a. Dealer contacts OTC Tech Services at: 800-533-0570 to explain the condition.

5. REGISTRATION
a. Fill out the original registration sheet on the back of the Warranty Statement. Include a photocopy of the registration sheet with the tester when it is sent in for repair.
SHOULD YOU REQUIRE SERVICE
In the event the Multi-Use Tester does not operate properly, the following steps should be taken before calling OTC.
1. Make sure that the power supply and harness connectors are hooked up properly. In most cases the ignition key must be in the "Run" position. (NOTE: MMSA recommends that a second harness assembly, part number MB991231 (available through OTC) be purchased and stored as a spare for emergency situations.)
2. Make sure that the ROM pack is the correct one, and that it is installed correctly.
3. Make sure that the problem is not with the vehicle:
Will the Multi-Use Tester work with other systems on the same car, or will it work with an identical system on an identical car?
Check to make sure that the diagnostic connector pins have not been damaged. Do the pins look good?
Check the diagnostic connector ground pin and the appropriate pin for the system you are trying to work with (ELC, MPI, ECS, etc).*
Can you use a test meter to get a trouble code from the diagnostic connector pin? *
* See the appropriate Service Manual for instructions.
If the answer is yes to all of these questions, the problem is most likely with the Multi-Use Tester.
