Front Wiper System
Wiper Low & High Speed OperationWhen the wiper switch is at the ``LO'' position and ignition switch on, current flows through the wiper motor low speed brush, wiper switch, and ground. The wipers then operate at low speed. When the wiper switch is at the ``HI'' position with the ignition switch on, current flows through the wiper motor high speed brush, wiper switch, and ground. The wipers then operate at high speed.
Wiper Automatic Stopping Operation
When the wiper switch is turned to the ``OFF'' position current flows through the wiper motors low speed brush, wiper switch, intermittent control relay, if equipped, wiper motor cam contacts, and ground. This allows the wiper motor to continue operation until the blades return to the park position. When the blades reach the park position the wiper motor moves to open its contacts, which interrupts the current flow to ground, causing the wipers to stop.
Wiper Intermittent Operation
With the ignition switch turned on, the wiper switch set to the ``INT'' position, current flows through intermittent relay, wiper switch, and ground, causing the intermittent relay contacts to open and close repeatedly. When the contacts are closed current flows through the low speed brush, wiper switch, intermittent wiper control relay, and ground, causing the wiper to operate. When the wiper motor starts to operate the relay contacts open causing current to flow through the wiper motor cam contacts and ground. The wipers will operate until they return to the park position.
Washer Operation
With the washer switch turned to the ``ON'' position, current flow through the intermittent wiper relay and ground causing the intermittent wiper relay internal contacts to close. Once closed current flows through the intermittent wiper relay contacts, wiper switch, wiper motor, and ground causing the wipers to operate.
