PURPOSE

Early 1989 Mirages with Heater Only are equipped with control panels that resemble those used in air-conditioned cars. The prospective customer looking at a non-air conditioned Mirage might mistakenly believe that the car is equipped with an air conditioner when in fact it is not. To avoid such a misunderstanding, we are asking dealers who have these cars in stock to modify the control panel by blacking-out the callouts over the unused air conditioner control knob. This bulletin provides detailed information on the modification. (Should an A/C be installed in the vehicle at some future time, the sticker should then be removed.)

INSTRUCTIONS

During Pre-Delivery Inspection, peel off one of the stickers attached to this bulletin and carefully place it on the heater control panel over the dummy knob at the left exactly as shown in Figure 1. If you feel you can make a better installation with the panel out of the car, remove it as shown on Page 24-32 of the 1989 Mirage Service Manual.
