Parking Brake System: Adjustments

1. Pull parking brake lever with force of approximately 45 lbs. Lever stroke should be 5-7 notches on Precis & 1990 Van or 4-6 notches on Montero and 1989 Van/Wagon.
2. If lever stroke is not within specifications, pull parking brake lever repeatedly to adjust shoe clearance, then adjust parking brake lever stroke by turning cable adjusting nut.
3. Raise and support rear of vehicle and, with parking brake lever released, turn rear wheels to ensure rear brakes are not dragging.
