Procedures

The automatic transaxle fluid should be changed every 30,000 miles on these units. When refilling transaxle, add only Dexron II automatic transaxle fluid.
1. Raise and support front of vehicle, then position drain pan under transaxle and remove drain located at bottom of differential and allow transaxle to drain.
2. Install drain plug, then add 4.2 quarts of the specified automatic transaxle fluid through transaxle dipstick hole.
3. Start engine and check fluid level.

With the vehicle on level surface, start engine and operate at idle speed. With parking brake applied, place selector lever in Neutral, then remove dipstick and check fluid level. Transmission should be at operating temperature when checking fluid level (120 to 180°F). Fluid level should be between Add and Full lines on dipstick. If necessary, add Dexron II fluid to bring fluid level within Add and Full lines on dipstick.
