Data Link Connector: Description and Operation

Diagnostic Check (Data Link) Connector Location:

PURPOSE

The data link connector supplies a path for the technician to communicate with the Engine Control Module (ECM).

Allows technician to:
- Access Sensor Input Values
- Read Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) stored in memory.
- Actuate ECM output devices--through the use of a scan tool.

NOTE: Monitoring inputs, reading other memory and actuating output devices can only be accomplished through the use of a scan tool. SEE DIAGNOSIS, TESTING AND Inspection.
