Fuel System Pressure Relief

When service to any component necessitates working with the fuel system, fuel pressure in the system must be relieved. This is extremely important to reduce risk of personal injury, fire or explosion due to fuel spray and leakage. Relieve fuel system pressure as follows:
1. Remove rear seat cushion, then disconnect fuel pump wiring harness from floor wiring harness.
2. Start engine and allow all residual fuel in system to be consumed; when engine stalls, turn ignition switch to Off position.
3. Connect fuel pump wiring harness to floor wiring harness and install rear seat cushion, then continue with service.
