Turbocharger Pressurization Test

CAUTION: Perform this test with two passengers (or equivalent weight) in the vehicle and where a full throttle acceleration can be safely performed.

Turbocharger Pressure Test Hook-up:

1. Disconnect the pressure control hose at the solenoid valve, and plug the fitting. Attach a pressure gauge to the hose and place it securely in a location that can be observed while the vehicle is under full throttle acceleration.
2. Drive the vehicle with full throttle to an engine speed of 3,500 RPM in second gear. Observe the gauge pressure reading as soon as the pointer stabilizes.

Standard range: 2.9 - 8.7 psi (20 - 60 kPa)

3. If the recorded pressure is higher than the standard range, the probable cause is wastegate actuator malfunction.
4. If the recorded pressure is lower than the standard range, the probable causes are wastegate actuator malfunction, intake system (tubing and hoses) pressure leaks or a faulty turbocharger.
