Crankshaft Position Sensor: Description and Operation
PURPOSE/OPERATIONThe powertrain control module uses this input to determine engine speed and TDC, and adjusts ignition timing, fuel injection, and idle speed accordingly. Power is supplied to the camshaft position sensor from the MFI relay and is grounded to the body. The sensor generates a pulse signal, as it repeatedly connects and disconnects between 5 Volts, supplied by the powertrain control module, and ground.
