Exhaust Gas Recirculation System Check

EGR SYSTEM CHECK

1. Remove the engine cover.
2. Disconnect the vacuum hose (green stripe) that connects to the EGR valve, and then connect a hand vacuum pump via a three-way terminal.
3. With the engine in cold and hot conditions, check the condition of vacuum when rapid racing has been performed by opening the throttle valve quickly.

When engine is cold
[Engine coolant temperature: 20 °C (68 °F) or less]

When engine is hot
[Engine coolant temperature: 80 °C (176 °F) or higher]

4. Disconnect the three-way terminal.
5. Connect the hand vacuum pump directly to the EGR valve.
6. Check whether the engine stalls or the idling is unstable when a vacuum of 220 mmHg (8.7 in.Hg) or higher is applied during idling.
