Engine Replacement


1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Drain engine coolant.
3. Scribe location of hood hinges on hood to aid reinstallation, and remove hood.
4. Remove air cleaner duct and duct hose.
5. Remove wire and hose connections indicated by arrows in Fig. 1.
6. Remove radiator and radiator shroud.
7. On models equipped with air conditioning, remove compressor and position aside. Never discharge refrigerant from air conditioning system when work is being performed.
8. On models equipped with power steering, remove power steering pump and reservoir tank.
9. On all models, remove transmission control linkage as described under ``Transmission, Replace.''
10. Disconnect speedometer cable and electrical connectors from transmission.
11. Disconnect parking brake cables at cable clamps.
12. Mark propeller shaft to insure proper installation, and remove propeller shaft. Plug hole in extension housing to prevent oil loss.
13. Remove clutch operating cylinder and exhaust pipe.

14. Attach lifting equipment to engine slingers, Fig. 1, and raise engine slightly to take weight off front and rear engine mounts.
15. Remove bolts securing rear engine mount to transmission and body.
16. Remove front engine mount bolts.
17. Turn steering wheel all the way to right or left and raise engine with transmission and remove as a unit from vehicle.
18. To install, reverse procedure.
