Diesel MFI Pump: Service and Repair
1. Remove temp-coupling and fan, drain cooling system, and remove radiator.
2. Remove injection tube assembly. Plug delivery holders and injection nozzles to prevent entrance of dirt.
3. Disconnect governor hose, fuel hoses, diesel pump controller rod, and remove oil feed pipe bolt.
4. Remove timing gear cover and timing gear round nut.

5. Remove timing assembly, using a suitable puller, Fig. 48.
6. Remove bolts securing injection pump assembly, and remove assembly from vehicle.
7. To install, set No. 1 piston at T.D.C. by aligning second mark on crank pulley with mark on front cover.
8. Temporarily install injection pump in position.

9. Install injection pump drive gear so that drive gear and idler gear teeth mesh at ``Y'' marks, Fig. 49.
10. Secure timing assembly with lock washer and round nut and torque nut to 43-51 ft. lbs.
11. Adjust injection pump timing as outlined in this section.
12. Bleed fuel system, as outlined, after setting injection timing and reassembling injector pipes.
13. Reinstall radiator, fan and temp-coupling, and fill cooling system to capacity.
