Throttle Position Sensor: Adjustments
Throttle Position Sensor/Switch Voltage Readings:
1. Start the engine and fully warm up.
2. Turn off the engine but leave the ignition switch "ON."
3. Leaving the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) harness connected, carefully backprobe the "BR" wire and verify the TPS has a 4-5 Volt reference signal. If not, repair the circuit.
4. Backprobe the output wire ("R", center) and verify the output is 0.4-0.5 Volts. If OK, no adjustment is needed. If not, proceed as follows:
- Loosen adjustment screws.
- Slowly turn TPS until correct voltage readings are obtained. Tighten screws and recheck.
5. Remove all test equipment and verify no damage was done to the TPS wiring or the connector. Correct if necessary.
