Power Steering Pressure Switch: Description and Operation
Power Steering Pressure Switch (PSP):
PURPOSE
The Power Steering Pressure (PSP) switch is attached to the power steering high-pressure tube and detects the power steering load, sending the load signal to the Engine Control Module (ECM). The ECM can then change idle speed due to the increased load.
OPERATION
The ECM sends the idle-up signal to the Idle Air Control-Auxiliary Air Control (IAC-AAC) valve to increase the idle speed to adjust for the increased load.
