Transmission Position Sensor/Switch: Testing and Inspection
DESCRIPTIONWhen the gear position is "P" or "N", park/neutral position is "ON".
ECM detects the position because the continuity of the line (the "ON" signal) exists.

OVERALL FUNCTION CHECK
Use this procedure to check the overall function of the park/neutral position switch. During this check, a DTC might not be confirmed.
WITH CONSULT
1) Turn ignition switch "ON".
2) Perform "PARK/NEUT POSI SW CKT" in "FUNCTION TEST" mode with CONSULT.

2) Select "P/N POSI SW" in "DATA MONITOR" mode with CONSULT.
3) Check the "P/N POSI 5W" signal under these conditions.

WITH NO TOOLS
1) Turn ignition switch "ON".
2) Check voltage between ECM terminal (22) and body ground under these conditions.
