Camshaft Position Sensor: Testing and Inspection
DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE
With Consult
Before performing the following procedure, confirm that battery voltage is more than 1O.5V.
(1) Turn ignition switch "ON".
(2) Select "DATA MONITOR" mode with CONSULT
(3) Crank engine for at least 2 seconds.
OR
With GST
(1) Crank engine for at least 2 seconds.
(2) Select "MODE 3" with GST
OR
Without Scan Tools
(1) Crank engine for at least 2 seconds.
(2) Turn ignition switch "OFF", wait at least 5 seconds and then turn "ON".
(3) Perform "Diagnostic Test Mode II" (Self-diagnostic results) with ECM.

COMPONENT INSPECTION
Camshaft position sensor
1. Start engine.
2. Check voltage between camshaft position sensor terminals (2), (3) and ground with AC range.
If NG, replace distributor assembly with camshaft position sensor.
3. Remove distributor cap. Visually check signal plate for damage or dust.
NOTE: After this inspection, DTC PO34O (0101) might be displayed with camshaft position sensor functioning properly. Erase the stored memory.
