APPLIED VEHICLES:
2002 Xterra (WD22) - with VG33E and VG33ER Engines
2002 Frontier (D22) - with VG33E and VG33ER Engines
2002 Sentra (B15) - with QG18DE Engine ONLY
SERVICE INFORMATION
If an applied 2002 Xterra, Frontier, or Sentra has the following:
^ MIL "ON" with DTC P1444 (EVAP Purge Volume Control S/V) stored in the ECM,
^ The current ECM P/N is one of the following shown in Chart A, Current ECM P/N column.
Use the Service Procedure provided in this bulletin to verify DTC P1444 and reprogram the ECM to the New ECM P/N listed in Chart A, above.
SERVICE PROCEDURE
1. Use CONSULT-II to confirm DTC P1444 (EVAP Purge Volume Control S/V) is stored.
2. Determine the vehicle's Current ECM Part Number. The ECM P/N is found on top of the CONSULT-II self-diagnosis printout (see Figure 1), or by CONSULT ECM P/N Selection.
3. Compare the vehicle's ECM P/N to those shown under Current ECM P/N in Chart A.
A. If the ECM P/N in the vehicle matches the number listed under Current ECM P/N" in Chart A, proceed to Step 4 below.
B. If the ECM P/N in the vehicle does not match the number listed under "Current ECM Data P/N" in Chart A, this bulletin does not apply. Use the appropriate Electronic Service Manual (ESM) to further diagnose and repair the incident.
4. Perform ECM reprogramming to update the ECM data to the New ECM P/N shown in Chart A .
^ ASIST users refer to the "ECM Reprogramming For Nissan Vehicles" general procedure.
5. Use CONSULT-II to confirm DTC P1444 is resolved and erase the DTC code.
